Clay is a fantastic medium for interpreting the human body and has been used throughout the ages to observe and celebrate the human spirit. In this five-day workshop aimed at beginners, you’ll learn the essential principles of figure sculpting and then apply them to creating a clay figure from real life.

During this workshop, you’ll work with sculptor Neil Grant to learn about gesture, proportion, and lines of grace, along with a little bit of anatomy, as you produce figures in clay. As the class progresses, you’ll be working with a live model to direct and inspire your work.

The class atmosphere is informative, relaxed, and fun, with plenty of demonstrations from Neil and one-on-one instruction as you work. Clay, tools and stands will be provided but students are welcome to bring their own favorite tools if they have them.
