Our class will emphasize on creating exciting structured compositions,  understanding and applying observed  light and color decisions. We will develop drawing skills, using geometrics that will affirm our choices. We will work from life using the figure  and the interior environment surroundings. You will learn how to study composition, and make informed choices .  We will learn how to start a painting by prepping: thumbnail sketches and color Poster Studies; making choices anchored in natural observation

Large Canvases Are Encouraged! This is a large scale painting class. This class is a 5 day journey painting  the model in an interior. Canvases no smaller than 20”×26”. Preferably larger , 30”×40” or  40”×50” etc.

Poster studies are small color studies that have little drawing but mass color shapes depicting the subject, and dividing it into light and shadow using color (Size boards primed no larger than 7”×9”, no canvas.) First thing in the morning (days 2-5) artist will create 1 Poster Study within 30 min choosing a different spot each morning to work from. Afterwards the artist will return back to their spot and canvas for the remaining of the morning.

This is an aggressive painting class. My job is to push you to your limits, give you tools to enable you in your own pursuit. To impress upon the artist and the importance of observation, challenge, persistently questioning what your lying eyes are telling you, and, how to find your way through difficult moments in painting.

All skill levels are welcome.
