Elevate your wheel-throwing skills in just one week with Building from Basics. In this course students will be guided, through focused drill and repetition, to build their skills on the wheel, such as throwing rounder, thinner, taller and wider. We’ll begin with cylinder exercises and steadily advance to more complex shapes, incorporating handles and additional elements along the way. By week’s end, you’ll have stronger technique, increased confidence, and improved skills that will continue to strengthen your pottery practice. This course is intended for intermediate students ready to push their skills further.
Rachel Dubicki is New York native, studio potter, who received her BFA from Alfred University in 2015. After receiving her BFA, she became 2016 Artist in Residence at Women’s Studio Workshop, in Rosendale, NY. From there, she spent several years cultivating her own studio practice, working with local artists, and years of vending at craft markets. In winter of 2023, Rachel left NY to be an AIR at Truro Center for the Arts at Castle Hill. In fall of 2023, she left the cape and began a two year residency at Worcester Center for Crafts. In August 2025, she finished her 2 year residency, and is now the Studio Manager at Lexington Arts and Craft Society, providing studio support and continuing her journey in her own studio practice.
