In this comprehensive hands-on workshop, you will learn the popular technique of transferring media and images onto an encaustic wax surface.  Students will be shown, step by step, the process of how to transfer black & white and color photographs or illustrations, various drawing media (such as pencil, charcoal, and pastel), dry-transfer type, gilding foils, and metal leaf.  Specific products, papers, and tools that are essential for the transfer process will be introduced, as well as potential supports. Learn about the preparation of a wax surface for a transfer, the archival qualities of each media used, and how to layer and protect the transferred images after they are applied to the wax.
