Ceramics Residents!

We were so happy to welcome our Two 2022 Ceramics Residents!

Our 2021 Ceramics Resident and recent graduate of the Hartford Art School of the University of Hartford, Philip Thomas, moved in the first week of January. This is not only his first residency, but his first time experiencing Cape Cod!

He has since settled into the apartment and gallery studio where he is working on a project that combines writing fantasy/fiction and connecting ceramics sculpture to his writing. We look forward to seeing how it all comes together! Philip’s 3 month residency went from January to March.

Wrapping up October

This October, we hosted 6 online classes and 5 on campus classes including ceramics with Chris in the reopened ceramics studio! We also kick started 60+ programming. This year, the 60PLUS classes (rebranded from the “senior program”) are all through Zoom, and include Pastel with Rob DuToit, printmaking with Vicky Tomayko, and poetry with Kate Wallace Rogers. These classes are offered do the year-round community for Free!

October also welcomed residents to Edgewood Farm. Rich Blundell, Rose Deler, Jamie Levine, June Kosloff, and David Whelan all had the opportunity to show off their work in an open air studio walk through. Tekla McInerney joined the group halfway through the month as well.

This past Saturday, we had a great tag sale at Castle Hill. A lot of art we have been storing found a new home. Thank you to everyone who donated items, and to Mary Ann O’Loughlin and Tina Tarantal who helped set up and pack up the event.

Thank You to the Truro CPC!
Thank you to the Truro Community Preservation Committee for approving our grant for use upgrading the historic buildings at Edgewood Farm.   Our plan is to move forward with the latest upgrades during this time when campus isn’t as crowded.

The Ballston Beach Horse Barn

A historic piece of Ballston Beach lives on at Edgewood Farm.
Castle Hill accepted a donation of a 1874 barn, part of the original Ballston Beach life saving station, that was about fall into the sea. The little building, which was painted by Edward Hopper, was the stable for one of the earliest lifesaving stations on the Cape. Here is a video showing the actual move: https://vimeo.com/263731495
