Mindfulness & Movement is an open-level morning practice designed to gently awaken the body through breath, attention, and easeful movement. Drawing from somatic practices, guided improvisation, yoga-inspired sequencing, and contemporary dance principles, the class supports mobility, presence, and embodied awareness. Each session is accessible to participants of all experience levels and well suited to an outdoor environment.
While the class structure remains consistent, the focus shifts each day, offering variety for repeat participants and a clear arc across the residency.
Daily Focus Themes
Day 1 – Grounding & Breath
Establishing connection to breath, weight, and support. Slow movement and simple sequences invite participants to arrive fully in their bodies and the outdoor space.
Day 2 – Flow & Mobility
Emphasis on fluid transitions, joint mobility, and continuous movement. Participants explore how energy travels through the body with ease and momentum.
Day 3 – Sensation & Improvisation
Guided improvisation prompts focus on sensation, spatial awareness, and personal choice, encouraging creativity and responsiveness to environment.
Day 4 – Integration & Presence
A reflective, integrative practice that weaves together breath, flow, and improvisation. The final session emphasizes clarity, calm, and embodied presence.
