9am - 1pm
Open Studio: Mon - Thurs, 1pm - 4pm
5 sessions

During this 5-day workshop, instructor Jen Gandee will demonstrate how to utilize templates to create slab-built forms with a particular focus on lidded boxes and butterdishes. Participants will also investigate ways to incorporate their own photos, drawings, and digital designs into their finished surfaces. These techniques will include carved stamps and stencils made using a Cricut cutting machine. Students will be assisted through the steps of digitally manipulating their images, so no computer experience is necessary.

Jen Gandee learned the craft of pottery as an undergraduate at West Virginia University. She received an MFA from Syracuse University’s College of Visual and Performing Arts and is currently an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Art at Cayuga Community College. She also owns the Gandee Gallery in Fabius, NY, which specializes in utilitarian and sculptural ceramics.
