Hospitality Manager / Studio Manager

JOB DESCRIPTION

This unified position requires multiple talents and is ideal for the person who thrives in a diverse and fast-paced environment.  We are looking for a person who will always be seeking to improve our participant experiences with generous and friendly treatment of our guests, whether at a workshop or at our student housing facilities. The individual in this role should be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively.

This position is full-time from March through December.  The workweek is Thursday through Tuesday.

 

  • As Hospitality Manager you welcome new faculty and students each Sunday, showing them to their rooms when they arrive, and giving them a brief orientation which includes info on parking, rooms, and keys.  Once our guests leave on Saturday, you ensure that each space at our Edgewood Farms campus is cleaned, tidy, and reflects our commitment to providing an inspiring and inviting environment for our students and faculty. You make sure all rooms and baths are equipped with supplies. You are the point person for our guests.  In general, you are the eyes and ears of the guests, assuring they are content.

  • As Studio Manager you facilitate program workshops, ensuring they run smoothly and efficiently, coordinating with instructors, participants, and staff - usually Monday, Tuesday and Friday. You perform daily maintenance tasks in the studio, which may include cleaning, organizing materials and equipment, while maintaining a safe environment for workshop participants, adhering to safety guidelines and addressing any safety concerns promptly.  You work with other studio managers, being part of the team in assuring smooth transitions between classes.

  •  This position collaborates with the Event Coordinator to staff events as needed, contributing to the overall success of gatherings, gallery openings, auctions, and other special occasions.  You collaborate with the director and other team members to assist in the preparation of board meetings, gallery shows, and the Encaustic Conference. 

  • You will oversee the Community Garden and the Greenhouse as well as planting the Castle Hill plots within the Community Garden with flowers that you harvest during the season for events, decorations, etc.  You help keeping the grounds and all public spaces, i.e. bathrooms, studios, parking lots in order for the public.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in the arts and/or hospitality or equivalent is preferred. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities. A team player, strong communication and excellent interpersonal skills. Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and irregular hours as required by workshop schedules and event timings.

Must have experience in cleaning and customer service.  Preferred - an interest in the arts and a strong background in hospitality.  Prior experience in studio management, workshop facilitation, or a related role within a creative environment, especially printmaking or sculpting and general handyperson a plus.

Salary range:

Salary based on experience,  40 hour work week – March through December. With some flexibility.
