Ceramic Studio Manager
Description:
The Ceramic Studio Manager is Responsible for the smooth, efficient running of the Ceramic Department and the maintenance of the studio and equipment under the direction of the Ceramic Director Studios open at 8:45 a.m. and close at 5:00, staff ideally work on staggering 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. and 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (times will vary depending on evening workshops and firings)
Duties Include:
Working with the director to establish the needs and priorities of the Ceramic department
Work with Program Manager regarding ordering materials or supplies
Contacting faculty members to determine workshop needs for materials and equipment
Preparing studios for each workshop, cleaning up after use, closing down at the end of the day
Assisting the faculty, checking attendance, and generally monitoring each class
Experience in loading and unloading kilns.
Maintaining equipment and supervising its use, reclaiming and pugging clay
Enforcing universal and safety precautions as described by director
Keeping grounds in order and all public spaces, i.e. bathrooms, gallery, landscaping, parking
Assist in firing kilns under the direction of the Ceramic Director
Assist in other studios as needed
Assisting with Open House and other events as planned
Cleaning, inventory and closing the studios at the end of the season
Self motivating is always a plus
Qualifications:
Bachelors in arts or related field, strong people skills, organized and a team player
Must have a strong background in: ceramics and experience in firing kilns, experience in other areas like sculpture a plus.
Must be able to start by early May and work through mid September. 40 hours per week.
Must have housing on Cape Cod
