Students bring an item to the studio that has personal meaning to them. Any small object works great as source material: a family heirloom, animal figurine, a stone they like, a type of gum packaging that appeals to them, a photograph, an image of a painting....anything the student wishes to recreate. Through considering the meaning of this object to them, students will transform it into ceramic form using any technique, including handbuilding, wheel-throwing, or slab-building. The finished sculpture will commemorate a person, event, or idea. Beginners welcome! Workshop open to both teens and adults.
