Join us for an experience that blends food, art, culture, traditional Mexican tool and ingredients, and Spanish language. Guests can take notes on recipe handouts and may be invited to participate in hands-on activities when possible. Be prepared to be led in pronunciation drills and maybe even break out in Mexican song! The meal will be enjoyed by all at the end of each class.
Tuesday , August 18th
Day 1: Kim & Tim will transport you to a Central American kitchen with detailed recipes, instructions, and translations. Mix a fresh fruity Sangria and sip it while you are walked through the creation of fresh chicken chili verde served on delicious hand-made tortillas de harina, with all the toppings. And believe it or not, the best refried beans are NOT straight from a can.
Wednesday, August 19th
Day 2: Practice essentials of Mexican cooking making and pressing hand-made corn tortillas and crafting a vibrant salsa roja, which will be used to build a cheese and nopales (cactus) enchilada casserole. Discover unique textures and flavors of cheeses from Latin America. Learn the history and flavor profile of piloncillo, Mexico’s beloved unrefined sweetener. Explore the refreshing world of Mexican street beverages preparing Aguas Frescas: Light, fruit-infused botanical waters, Licuados: Rich, blended fruit smoothies, and Raspados: iconic Mexican shaved ice. Transform these traditional Refrescos into delightful cocktails, perfect for your next summer gathering.

Kim is a lifelong award-winning visual artist who specializes in metal clay jewelry and sculpture. She teaches at various venues Cape-wide and beyond. She is also a trustee at Cape Cod Museum of Art and a mentor for Mass Hire Artworks students. His interest in international language has always included an appreciation for food as an expression of culture. He not only enjoys cooking, but sharing the cultural and historical significance of vocabulary, recipes and ingredients. He is also ServSafe Certified. Additionally, Tim is a professionally trained and certified bartender and brings his skills to the kitchen to complement every aspect of the meal he and Kim cook together.
