This fast-paced, two-day workshop invites artists to immerse themselves in the act of making—without pressure for finished results. Through guided prompts and spontaneous experimentation, participants will explore how materials, touch, and repetition can lead to discovery and meaning.
Day 1 focuses on exploring a wide range of materials—water-based drawing tools, markers, acrylics, ink, coffee, dirt, and more—on an array of papers, including 8 × 8 hot press and other unique surfaces. Through drawing, painting, monotype-style printing, and collage, artists will generate a rich body of exploratory pieces centered on process, gesture, and curiosity.
Day 2 builds from this collection, introducing ways of cutting, taping, gluing, stapling, layering, and editing. The emphasis is on responding to what’s been made—seeing what holds, what surprises, and what leads forward. This class is designed for those who want to loosen up, dig in, and rediscover joy and meaning through materials and process. R&F Handmade Paints will generously sponsor the use of Pigment Sticks and Drawing Oils for this workshop.
