Local Basketry: From Foraged Materials to Finished Work

November 3-5, 10am - 4pm: Stake and Strand Basics with Bittersweet
December 1-3, 10am - 4pm: Learn to Weave an Asymmetric Basket with Driftwood and Willow 
January 12-14, 10am - 4pm: Frame Basketry with Brambles and Vines

Learn to weave with locally farmed and foraged weaving materials! Attendees will learn the basics of selecting, harvesting, and processing weaving materials into handmade baskets. Each set of 3-day classes will feature a different plant and basket shape, and participants can register for one class or all three.

**Strong hands are a must for these classes; we will also be walking in the woods and on the beach to gather materials.**

On day one of each class we will forage our materials. (With the exception of the driftwood handles, participants will use these materials for a future basket—basketry materials need to be harvested and dried in advance, so I will provide materials for the basket they make in class and they will bring home what they need to make another basket.) Participants should dress for the weather! On days two and three we will construct the basket. Please bring a sharp pair of clippers if you have one. All other tools and materials will be provided. Limited to 6 participants per class.
