In the beginning light was created. Sometime later, Human beings arrived and saw the light and realized it was good. Some unknown time later, they started wondering what if it could be used for to make something?

Sometime around 15,000 to 10,000BC, cave paintings arrived. Some people  think these paintings could have been drawn on the cave walls by tracing images of things being projected onto the walls through openings (apertures) on those  cave walls.

Let’s find out together what happened next and how it led to the birth of photography!

Marty Hassell started earning her living in photography in 1973 and spent 35 years Of her career at New England School of Photography, a school that trained professional Photographers. While serving in various administrative positions, she spent 30 of those years teaching the 10 week History of Photography course that the professional students were required to take. As none of them were thrilled with this requirement, Marty made it  fun! She hopes you will enjoy the first class of that course as well.
