In this hands-on workshop, participants will explore the unique and expressive process of drawing with crushed, colored glass powders on sheet glass.  This technique allows for detailed line work, gestural mark-making, and subtle shifts in color on a transparent surface.  Using stencils, students can layer patterns and textures to create rich, multidimensional compositions.  Once the drawing is complete, each piece will be kiln-fired, fusing the glass powders seamlessly into the sheet glass and producing a unified surface.  Along the way, participants will receive a basic introduction to firing and annealing glass, gaining insight into how heat transforms and stabilizes their work.

Throughout the workshop, students will generate a set of exploratory samples, practice a range of drawing and layering methods, and create a small personal project.  This class is open to all skill levels including experienced artists interested in expanding their material vocabulary as well as beginners eager to delve into the world of glass art.  No prior experience required.
