Instructor: Suzy Becker
Monday - Friday
August 17 - 21
1pm - 4pm
5 sessions

New Yorker cartoonist Suzy Becker, known for her international bestseller All I Need to Know I Learned from My Cat, leads Castle Hill’s first-ever workshop on single panel comic creation.

The five afternoons will cover the process of writing, drawing, inking and submitting cartoons— creating characters, environments, gags and finished cartoons. The format is a mix of a little lecture/demo, prompts/exercises for individual and collaborative making, plenty of conversation and sharing. You will leave with cartoons of your own and a class comic book.

Materials: Please bring 3 favorite single panel cartoons, writing and inking implements, paper for drawing. Digital devices are fine for note taking, but we will be making stuff by hand.

For all levels, including people who think they can’t draw.
