Ceramic Creations with Chris is an exciting onsite class that is designed to explore the joys of ceramics on the wheel, possible handbuilding techniques may be wedged in, an exploration of Cone 10 Reduction Glazing and Cone 10 Soda firing will be discussed. Demonstrations and discussions are driven by class dynamic and interest. This class is open to anyone who has had past experience throwing on the wheel. I want to help you manifest creative creations and enjoy every part of the process of working with clay.
Christopher Smith completed his Master of Fine Arts degree at the University of Massachusetts in Dartmouth, Massachusetts in the spring of 2020. Prior to his graduate degree, he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Maharishi University of Management in Fairfield, Iowa as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Vedic Science. Christopher’s work involves the process of wheel- thrown and handbuilt ceramics, atmospheric-firing conditions and locally sourced materials. Christopher also worked as an assistant to ceramic artist Chris Gustin. Selected accolades include the 2018 Karon Richardson Doherty Memorial Scholarship, 2017 George and Ellen McKinnon Scholarship, and in 2016 the Outstanding Student Award in the Field of Fine arts.
