Instructor: Andrea Eisenberg
Monday - Friday
July 8 - 12
9am - 12pm
As figurative sculptors, we are interested in understanding the human form as a live body and an emotional body. Whether the sculpture is a standing or a seated figure, a torso, a portrait head, or a mask, we want to capture the strength and gravity of being human. We will work from a nude model doing gestural clay sketches and a long pose. There will be discussions of clay modeling techniques, mass and form, planes and anatomy in the context of sculptural history.
Permanence is not the focus this week, but firing your work can be available at a later date and casting can be discussed.
*All levels of sculpting experience are welcome, especially beginners.
