In this workshop we will use transparent watercolor and gouache in a variety of traditional and experimental ways. We will explore composition and non-composition, mark making, painting without drawing, and other contemporary ideas, including some water-based mixed media. There will be slide presentations of traditional and contemporary watercolor artists. Attention will be given to creating your own voice through the color and compositional choices you make. Abstract and/or representational ideas can be explored. Demonstrations, slide presentation, critiques, and group discussion are included. Some materials provided at a small fee for those who wish to try them. All levels are welcome.

Suzanne Siegel takes long walks in places where sea, sky, and land converge, making drawings and searching for ideas for compositions that communicate arrangements of space and luminous light. Suzanne's studio is in Guilford, CT. She is currently represented by Cove Gallery in Wellfleet, MA; Cape Gallery Framers in Falmouth, MA; Archipelago - The Island Institute in Rockland, Maine; and Wall Street Gallery in Madison, CT. She teaches workshops and private classes throughout the Northeast, and is also available for individual art mentoring.
