Highlands Fest at Highland Center: Sprouting Forth

Highlands Fest: Sprouting Forth

Saturday, June 27, 10 AM to 2 PM. Free.

Join us for an engaging, participatory Highlands Fest special event.  This year’s focus is on the “Healthy Parks, Healthy People” initiative, which celebrates parks as a resource for engaging in healthy fun activities outdoors while fostering a deeper connection to the natural environment.

Pitch in to create a colorful, festive mural that showcases artistic expressions of the Highlands Center “Sprouting Forth” as a destination for ecological understanding, art, green living and healthy physical activity. Join us for yoga with an ocean view. Enjoy a guided hike peppered with history on the Woods Walk Trail. Plant green bean seedlings to prepare for Truro Agricultural Fair contest. Explore our new EcoArts Discovery Path punctuated by artistic posts and information highlighting public art and the diverse natural ecosystems of the seashore. Prepare to be awed by the cirque movement performance of the day while enjoying light refreshments.  All ages and abilities are invited to participate, learn, and support your Climate Friendly Park though activity and public art!

The eight Highlands Center partner organizations have come together to present this event with coordination by Barnstable County’s AmeriCorps Cape Cod.  “With the National Seashore taking a large stride towards the “Healthy Parks, Healthy People” initiative in the coming years – we hope to draw emphasis to the importance of the park as a resource to the community in various ways,” stated Lauren Markram, AmeriCorps National Seashore Planning Assistant.  “Cape Cod National Seashore – and the Highlands Center in particular - has so much to offer to the public, from engaging health activities to science exploration and more. Let’s take a day to celebrate that!”

Come enjoy light refreshments.  All ages and abilities are invited to participate, learn, and support your Climate Friendly Park through public art!
