Bringing the conversation of culture or personal narrative into one's work can feel elusive or even a little scary. Kevin will share methods that open those conversations and encourage discoveries that can bring an unexpected layer of meaning to creative work. One-on-one time will be balanced with group discussions and guided idea-generation exercises. Activities such as sketching, both with clay and on paper, will serve to stimulate visual thinking, develop visual vocabulary, and strengthen trust in working personally and intuitively.

Intermediate experience required.

Originally from Philadelphia and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, Kevin Snipes received a B.F.A. in ceramics and drawing from the Cleveland Institute of Art in 1994 and concluded graduate studies at the University of Florida in 2003. He is a studio artist whose work is widely exhibited and has garnered numerous awards. He works primarily in ceramics, blurring the boundary between craft and art.
