If you’re an artist (or non-artist!) who wants a stronger Instagram presence but can’t find your groove, this introductory course is for you.

With a bit of guidance and planning, you can share your work and build your business.

The course will explain the content formats within the Instagram universe—feed posts, stories, reels—and how to use them, as well as how to tag other accounts and find audio. We’ll also touch on strengthening your profile page, from the 150-character bio to linking out to your website. No idea what this all means? No problem, I’ll clearly define the basics.

We’ll talk about honing your identity, determining who you want to reach, and finding the right tone. Next, we’ll run through potential content categories for artists, evaluating which best support your mission, and how to create beautiful imagery. Instagram is about storytelling—in pictures. And, don’t forget, compelling captions help attract an audience, so we’ll work on crafting those too.

In addition to exploratory discussions, this workshop provides hands-on exercises in content planning. You will leave with ideas for what to post, an arsenal of keywords and hashtags, and a content calendar. If there’s time, we’ll go over ways to schedule content, discuss the importance of interacting with other accounts, and peek at the analytics behind your own account.

Come with your mobile device (I use an iPhone) and an Instagram account already set up. Also, note five accounts you enjoy following.
